Fractional CFO / Client Advisory Director

This role sits within Berndt CPA LLC's growing advisory and outsourced accounting practice. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic partner to entrepreneurial business clients across multiple industries, combining financial leadership with operational consulting, relationship management, and team collaboration. The position suits professionals with a background in Controller, Finance Director, or CFO roles, as well as those with outsourced accounting or advisory experience.

The role offers significant autonomy, direct client interaction, and long-term leadership opportunities within the firm. Responsibilities span fractional CFO services, accounting oversight, internal mentorship, and contributing to the firm's continued practice growth.

• Serve as a trusted financial advisor to a portfolio of entrepreneurial business clients across diverse industries.
• Deliver fractional CFO and controllership services including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and KPI reporting.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly accounting functions, reviewing financial statements for accuracy and timeliness.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and technology optimisation across client operations.
• Collaborate with and mentor internal accounting team members to support service quality and practice growth.
• Build long-term client relationships through consistent communication and value-driven advisory engagement.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA preferred but not required.
• 7 to 15 or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or operational leadership.
• Background in private industry leadership, outsourced accounting, advisory services, or public accounting.
• Strong command of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business operations.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with business owners and senior leadership teams.
• Familiarity with cloud-based accounting platforms, including QuickBooks Online.
