LHH Knightsbridge
Interim Vice President, Finance & Transformation
A 12-month interim mandate to lead finance modernisation and organisational transformation for a mission-driven organisation in downtown Toronto, reporting directly to the CEO.
This interim role sits at the centre of a significant modernisation programme for a well-established, mission-driven organisation. Working directly with the CEO and senior leadership, the VP Finance and Transformation will assess the current state of the finance function, redesign key processes and controls, oversee the implementation of a modern accounting platform, and strengthen governance and board reporting. The mandate spans financial planning, risk management, process improvement, and technology modernisation.
The successful candidate will deliver a prioritised transformation roadmap, improved budgeting and forecasting practices, strengthened financial policies, and a practical transition plan that leaves the organisation with durable, self-sustaining capability beyond the 12-month engagement.
- Conduct a current-state assessment of finance processes, controls, reporting and governance, then develop a sequenced transformation roadmap.
- Review and improve budgeting, forecasting and management reporting to provide clearer decision support for executives and the Board.
- Strengthen financial policies, internal controls, documentation and audit readiness across the organisation.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and manual workarounds, then standardise and simplify processes to improve efficiency and accountability.
- Assess financial systems and reporting tools and identify practical opportunities to reduce reliance on manual processes.
- Build sustainable capability through coaching, knowledge transfer, standard operating procedures and a clear transition plan.
- University degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting designation in good standing is strongly preferred.
- 10 or more years of progressively senior finance and leadership experience, including executive or senior management exposure.
- Demonstrated track record leading finance transformation, strengthening controls and improving management reporting.
- Experience supporting a Board, Finance and Audit Committee or equivalent governance body.
- Strong change management, process improvement and project leadership capability, with experience in regulated, public-sector, healthcare or not-for-profit environments considered an asset.
