Fractional vCISO

RMS Retail Marketing Solutions is seeking a fractional vCISO to build and manage a robust hyperscaler hosting security model spanning datacentre infrastructure, hosting providers, and client environments. The role covers web, cloud, and dedicated hosting security, including layered defences such as WAFs, encryption, DDoS mitigation, and proactive threat detection. The contractor will oversee SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 certification programmes, manage vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, and maintain patch management and configuration hardening across Windows and Linux environments. Availability of Monday to Friday, 8am to 12pm EST is required, with a 60-day probation period initially.

Compensation is project-based at an hourly rate, with profit sharing available at 2 to 4 percent of hosting billable revenue with no cap.

• Design and operate a hyperscaler hosting security model across datacentre, hosting provider, and client environments
• Manage day-to-day TechOps, CloudOps, DevOps, FinOps, and SecOps cybersecurity operations including vendor and infrastructure oversight
• Own all SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 certification programmes, including gap assessments, control design, documentation, and audit readiness
• Lead security vulnerability assessments across infrastructure, applications, and network layers, and drive remediation planning
• Manage Windows and Linux OS solutions including patch management, privilege control, and configuration hardening
• Mentor and develop an experienced hosting cybersecurity team

• 5+ years managing hyperscaler cybersecurity across TechOps, CloudOps, DevOps, FinOps, and SecOps disciplines
• Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and SLA-based monitoring solutions
• Direct involvement in SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 certification projects with working knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, and SOC 2 Trust Principles
• Experience securing Windows and Linux environments within cloud-hosted, multi-tenant platforms including AWS, Azure, and/or DigitalOcean
• Strong programme and team management skills with the ability to coordinate internal teams and external auditors
• C1 or C2 English proficiency and availability Monday to Friday, 8am to 12pm EST
