Technical Delivery Lead (Fractional/Contract)

Helbling Digital Media (HDM) is a profitable, 20-plus year digital agency operating across WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Webflow, HubSpot, Salesforce, React and Next.js. Its sister company, Summit, is an AI-first growth business building websites, automation, SEO and integration systems for clients. The founder currently handles solutions architecture, technical discovery, scoping, developer selection, QA and client escalations. This role is designed to absorb those responsibilities entirely.

The engagement begins as a fractional contract of roughly 20 to 30 hours per week, working alongside an existing project manager who handles process and coordination. The right candidate takes full ownership of technical judgment calls, with a clear progression from Technical Delivery Lead through to Head of Delivery and potentially a senior operating role across both businesses. The role is remote but requires Eastern or Central time zone availability, and US work authorisation is mandatory.

• Lead technical discovery, scoping and estimation for client projects across both HDM and Summit
• Select, brief and manage a bench of contractor developers, evaluating estimates critically rather than accepting them at face value
• Own QA processes and delivery risk from project kick-off through to launch
• Serve as the technical voice in client conversations, communicating tradeoffs clearly to business owners and executives
• Collaborate with the project manager on coordination while retaining full technical authority
• Adopt and actively use AI development tools such as Claude, Cursor, Lovable or GitHub Copilot within delivery workflows

• Hands-on web development background, with WordPress strongly preferred alongside any combination of PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, WooCommerce, Shopify or CRM integrations
• Demonstrated experience managing or directing other developers or contractors
• Current, genuine use of AI development tools or clear enthusiasm to adopt them
• Track record of owning outcomes independently and operating comfortably in ambiguous environments
• Confidence communicating technical tradeoffs directly with business owners and executives
• US work authorisation required; Eastern or Central time zone availability required
