Part-Time Operations Director at Archdiocese of Chicago

The Operations Director will serve as the professional administrator for one or more parishes within the Archdiocese of Chicago, supporting the Pastor in the stewardship of financial, human and physical resources. The role spans financial reporting, budget management, school economic modelling, facilities oversight, vendor negotiations, HR administration and IT. The Director is expected to hold confidential information with discretion and to proactively identify and implement operational improvements in line with Archdiocesan policies.

This position carries broad responsibility across church and school operations, including liaison duties with the Parish Finance Council, School Board, local government agencies and Archdiocesan administrative bodies. Strong accounting knowledge and proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel are essential to success in the role.

• Prepare, evaluate and communicate parish and school budgets, P&L, balance sheet, AR/AP and general ledger reporting, including monthly variance reports and reforecasts
• Oversee facilities management, capital projects, major repairs, custodial functions and vendor contracts in accordance with Archdiocesan guidelines
• Lead and develop operations staff including bookkeepers, office staff and maintenance personnel, conducting annual performance reviews
• Develop and manage the school economic model to assess the financial impact of enrolment, tuition pricing, discounts and cost initiatives
• Coordinate fundraising events, capital campaign collections, pledge drives and parish offertory stewardship
• Manage IT systems, parish census database and operational records, and facilitate weekly staff meetings to track project progress

• Practising Catholic with demonstrated understanding and support of Catholic Church teachings, mission and values
• Bachelor degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business Management
• Experience in accounting, finance or related business practices with strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Proven HR experience including people leadership, interviewing, policy application and performance management
• Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism
• Experience with not-for-profit organisations or church management is preferred
