Interim Executive Director

This interim role is placed by Scion Nonprofit Staffing on behalf of a mission-driven nonprofit organisation in Northern California. The Interim Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and provide both strategic and operational leadership during a period of organisational transition. Core responsibilities span program delivery oversight, regulatory compliance, team development, and stakeholder relationship management.

Compensation is set at $65 to $70 per hour, with health benefits available through Scion Staffing after 30 days. A hybrid schedule may be offered following a successful onboarding period, subject to organisational needs.

• Provide executive-level leadership across operations, program delivery, and cross-functional teams
• Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory, licensing, documentation, and quality standards
• Lead, coach, and develop managers while building a collaborative and accountable organisational culture
• Drive program improvements, operational efficiencies, and continuous quality initiatives
• Maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, community partners, and oversight agencies
• Partner with the Board of Directors to support strategic priorities and organisational stability

• Executive leadership experience within healthcare, substance use treatment, or human services
• Strong working knowledge of compliance requirements, licensing standards, and regulatory frameworks
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and building trust across an organisation
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative management approach
