Interim Executive Director (Volunteer)

Live Green Connecticut is a statewide nonprofit with nearly two decades of work connecting municipalities, businesses and communities around sustainability. The organisation is entering a growth phase and requires an interim leader to provide operational and program oversight on a part-time, primarily remote basis for an initial six-month term, with potential for extension.

The Interim Executive Director reports to the Board President and will progressively take on independent responsibility for day-to-day decisions within budgets and policies set by the Board. Key focus areas include leading the Heat Healthy Connecticut energy-efficiency program, expanding the Live Green Connecticut Pledge statewide, cultivating sponsors and funders, and organising events. Note: this is a volunteer position and no financial compensation is provided.

• Supervise and provide direction to the Heat Healthy Connecticut implementation team, ensuring program goals and funder deliverables are met on schedule
• Lead the expansion of the Live Green Connecticut Pledge by recruiting businesses, municipalities and community organisations as participants
• Identify and cultivate prospective corporate sponsors, grant opportunities and funding partnerships
• Recruit, engage and coordinate volunteers across programs, events and outreach activities
• Plan and execute events end-to-end, including logistics, vendor coordination, volunteer management and follow-up
• Maintain project records, contacts and milestones in the organisation's CRM and report progress to the Board President

• Demonstrated experience in nonprofit operations, program management or organisational leadership
• Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership development skills across business, government and community sectors
• Hands-on event planning and logistics experience, including managing vendors, speakers and volunteers
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently within limited time and resources
• Comfortable using a CRM tool to maintain contacts, track activities and monitor deliverables
• Excellent verbal communication skills for public representation and stakeholder meetings
