Interim Executive Director

This 9-month interim engagement requires an experienced executive to stabilise and transform a complex university IT department. The role involves assessing organisational structure, identifying cultural and operational barriers, restructuring reporting lines, and restoring accountability and service standards across the department.

The Executive Director will establish governance and decision-making frameworks, collaborate with university administration and campus stakeholders, manage departmental budgets, and ensure compliance with security and audit obligations. A key deliverable is preparing thorough transition documentation and succession plans to support the incoming permanent leader.

• Lead all departmental operations and supervise managers, supervisors, and professional staff
• Execute an organisational transformation and culture improvement plan based on a comprehensive assessment
• Restructure reporting relationships, staffing models, and operational responsibilities as required
• Address performance management issues through coaching, corrective action, or reassignment in line with university policy
• Establish governance, communication, and decision-making processes to support long-term departmental success
• Develop succession planning and transition documentation for the incoming permanent Executive Director

• 3 or more years of experience in executive-level organisational transformation and change management
• 3 or more years leading organisational restructuring and culture change initiatives
• 3 or more years of executive leadership within large, complex technology organisations
• 3 or more years managing personnel performance, coaching, and accountability
• Bachelor's degree plus 8 or more years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and certification
• Preferred: experience in higher education, governance framework implementation, and audit remediation
