Interim Director of Emergency Department

This interim role leads day-to-day operations of a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department with 68 beds in Springfield, Missouri. The director will oversee seven direct reports and a wider team of approximately 130 FTEs, with an expected start within two to three weeks of acceptance.

The focus areas are stabilising staffing, driving meaningful change management, and building a positive, accountable culture. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, collaborative leader comfortable in fast-paced clinical environments who can build trust with both staff and physicians. Performance metrics will be central to identifying improvement opportunities and sustaining operational results.

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department, including oversight of seven direct reports and approximately 130 FTEs
• Stabilise staffing levels and develop sustainable workforce strategies across the department
• Drive change management initiatives to improve operational performance and culture
• Use performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and implement measurable operational outcomes
• Mentor and develop clinical supervisors to strengthen the departmental leadership pipeline
• Foster a positive, accountable culture and build trust with frontline staff and physicians

• BSN required; master's degree preferred
• Active RN licence required; compact nursing licence advantageous
• Significant Emergency Department nursing leadership experience, including high-acuity and trauma settings
• Experience with paediatric ED, change management, and staffing stabilisation preferred
• Demonstrated background in performance improvement and leadership development
• Ability to commence the assignment within two to three weeks of acceptance
