Interim Controller

A client of UHY is seeking an Interim Controller to lead a hands-on accounting cleanup covering June 2025 through the current period. The role requires strong governmental accounting experience and the ability to operate independently in an environment where processes and systems are still being developed.

The successful candidate will correct bank reconciliations, resolve historical discrepancies, and bring records fully up to date. Working closely with the Director of Finance, they will also support audit preparation, oversee fiduciary responsibilities related to client funds, and establish consistent accounting processes to strengthen the overall function.

• Lead a comprehensive accounting cleanup from June 2025 through the current period
• Perform and correct bank reconciliations, resolving historical discrepancies
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and bring accounting records fully current
• Oversee the full accounting cycle and establish consistent processes
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance to rebuild and strengthen the accounting function
• Support audit preparation and resolution of outstanding financial reporting issues

• Proven experience with full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
• Demonstrated background leading accounting cleanups or recovering significantly outdated books
• Governmental accounting experience required
• Strong understanding of full-accrual accounting principles
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex accounting issues
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
