Interim Controller (Resource Solutions MI)

UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group is building a pipeline of qualified interim Controller candidates to deploy with client organisations as needs arise. Rather than an active opening, this is a proactive talent identification effort for temporary engagements across their middle-market client base, which spans closely held businesses through to large enterprises.

The interim Controller will take ownership of all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, sound internal controls and regulatory compliance. The role suits a hands-on finance leader comfortable stepping into varied client environments, managing accounting teams and providing strategic insight to senior management during transitional periods.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS standards.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, analysing variances and providing actionable insights to department heads.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Monitor cash flow, oversee banking activities and manage liquidity to support operational requirements.
• Coordinate and manage corporate tax filings, liaising with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, evaluate process efficiency and collaborate cross-functionally on financial decision-making.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• Minimum five years of accounting or finance experience, including at least two years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS principles, plus financial regulations and tax compliance obligations.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite or SAP, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving ability, with strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
• Prior experience in a Controller or senior accounting role within a middle-market or multi-entity environment is an advantage.
