A 3-6 month interim controller engagement supporting a family office across multiple operating companies, focused on strengthening financial controls, reporting, and process automation.
This interim controller position sits within a family office environment, reporting directly to senior leadership across multiple operating companies. The primary focus is on building financial structure during a period of transition, covering bank reconciliation automation, budget versus actuals reporting, AP/AR oversight, and controls governance. The engagement spans an initial 3-6 months on a W2 contract basis, with the role based in Longmont or Denver, Colorado.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on finance leader comfortable in entrepreneurial or multi-entity settings. They will work alongside external tax advisors, manage two direct reports, and deliver accurate management reporting while driving broader process improvement and finance automation across the organisation.
- Automate and improve the bank reconciliation process, currently managed manually outside of PNC.
- Design and implement a bi-weekly budget versus actuals reporting package across multiple operating companies.
- Oversee and strengthen accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Establish and enhance financial controls and governance processes.
- Partner with external tax accountants and advisors to support compliance and reporting requirements.
- Deliver timely financial reporting and analysis to senior leadership, and manage two direct reports.
- Proven experience as a Controller or senior finance leader in a multi-entity or complex environment.
- Background in family offices, private businesses, or entrepreneurial organisations is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, reconciliations, AP/AR processes, and management reporting.
- Experience implementing process improvements and finance automation initiatives.
- Ability to bring discipline and structure to finance operations while remaining hands-on and adaptable.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with external accounting and tax partners.
