A hands-on Interim Controller role overseeing accounting operations, payroll, AP/AR, cash flow, and month-end close for a high-volume organisation based in Youngstown, Ohio.
RGP is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to step into a hands-on leadership role within an established accounting function. Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Finance and CFO, you will partner directly with the Accounting Manager to stabilise and structure day-to-day finance operations across a high-volume environment. The engagement is an on-site, five-month contract based in Youngstown, Ohio.
This role suits a seasoned accounting leader who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, identifying control gaps, and implementing practical improvements. You will be expected to quickly assess current processes, document procedures, and bring structure and efficiency to an active accounting team while supporting senior finance leadership.
- Oversee daily accounting operations and collaborate closely with the Accounting Manager
- Manage payroll processes, including accuracy, tax compliance, and benefits administration
- Supervise AP/AR functions to ensure timely and accurate processing
- Manage cash flow, treasury activities, and bank account operations
- Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliation processes
- Support month-end close activities and identify opportunities to improve and document accounting procedures
- Demonstrated Controller-level accounting experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Hands-on approach with willingness to work directly alongside the accounting team
- Proven track record of improving processes, creating efficiencies, and documenting procedures
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Paycor, and Tipalti preferred but not required
