An established manufacturing organisation in the Hartford, WI region requires an experienced interim Controller to step into a visible leadership role across its U.S. accounting function. The position reports directly to the CFO and involves managing a team of three, taking ownership of the monthly close cycle, and preparing financial statements and management reporting. The engagement is estimated at six or more months with potential to convert to a permanent hire.
A key component of the role is bridging operational and financial performance, connecting plant metrics such as productivity, earned hours, production units, and overtime to financial outcomes. The right candidate will be comfortable assessing priorities quickly in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment and providing both technical accounting expertise and day-to-day team direction.
- Lead the U.S. accounting function and provide direct oversight to a team of three
- Own the month-end close process for the U.S. legal entity
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting packages
- Perform monthly actual-to-forecast, prior-month, and prior-year variance analysis
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner
- Partner with plant and operations leadership to connect operational metrics to financial results
- Support quarterly forecasting, the annual budgeting process, and open accounting recruitment
- Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
- Demonstrated manufacturing accounting experience in a hands-on capacity
- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or comparable corporate accounting leadership role
- Proven ownership of month-end close and financial reporting processes
- Strong variance analysis and financial statement preparation capability
- Advanced Excel skills, including manipulation and analysis of large data sets
- Ability to operate effectively under tight deadlines in a high-volume environment
