Higher Education Ellucian Colleague Finance Consultants / Interim Controller

CampusWorks is building a network of experienced higher education finance professionals to serve colleges and universities on a flexible, project-based basis. Engagements range from a few weeks to several months, covering interim leadership of finance departments, financial reporting, grants management, internal controls, and ERP system optimisation. Platforms in scope include Ellucian Banner, Colleague, Workday, and Jenzabar.

This is a 1099 independent contractor arrangement suited to current or former Controllers, CFOs, or Directors of Finance who want meaningful project work without a full-time commitment. Consultants may accept or decline individual engagements based on availability. Some on-site campus visits may be required depending on client scope, though the primary working arrangement is remote.

• Provide interim leadership of finance department staff, acting as Controller, CFO, or Finance Director as required by the client
• Perform general accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis while overseeing daily financial operations
• Advise institutions on the development and improvement of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Coordinate with external auditors and campus leaders to assess processes and recommend practical improvements
• Guide finance ERP optimisation across platforms such as Ellucian Banner, Colleague, Workday, and Jenzabar
• Facilitate workshops, document business processes, and support knowledge transfer to institutional staff

• 5 or more years of finance, accounting, or business office leadership experience within higher education
• Prior experience as a Controller, CFO, or Director of Finance strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with at least one higher education ERP system, such as Banner, Colleague, Workday, or Jenzabar
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting, grants management, accounts payable and receivable, and compliance requirements
• Bachelor's degree required; CPA or MBA preferred
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with institutional leadership
