Human Resources Director - Part-Time

Nord Anglia International School New York is seeking a part-time Human Resources Director to serve as a trusted adviser to school leadership and a champion for people and culture. The position is approximately 20 hours per week, structured across four hours per day, and is suited to an experienced HR professional who is comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level within a close-knit school community.

Reporting directly to the Principal, with a dotted-line relationship to the Regional HR Director, the HR Director holds a seat on the Senior Leadership Team. The role is supported by Nord Anglia Education's US Shared Services Team, which provides assistance across payroll, benefits administration, HR systems and employee lifecycle processes. The successful candidate will operate within a matrix structure, balancing local school priorities against regional and group HR standards.

• Advise the Principal and Senior Leadership Team on people strategy, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness.
• Lead full-cycle recruitment, onboarding and offboarding for all school-level positions.
• Manage employee relations, performance management and disciplinary processes in line with employment law requirements.
• Coordinate payroll and benefits administration in partnership with the US Shared Services Team.
• Oversee HR compliance, workforce planning and HR administration, including visa and background check providers.
• Coach and train managers on interviewing, performance feedback and people leadership practices.

• Proven experience as an HR generalist or HR leader, ideally within education or a similarly complex environment.
• Solid understanding of New York employment law and HR compliance obligations.
• Demonstrated ability to operate within a matrix organisation, aligning local priorities with regional HR frameworks.
• Hands-on experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, relations, payroll coordination and workforce planning.
• Strong coaching and advisory skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable managing external vendors including recruiters, visa providers and background check services.
