This role sits at the intersection of technology strategy and insurance operations, acting as the senior technology and AI partner to AXA XL's Risk Advisory and Global Chief Underwriting Office (GCUO). Reporting to the Chief Technology and AI Officer, the position is responsible for converting business objectives into coherent, funded technology and AI roadmaps that span digital, data, automation, and core platform modernisation. The leader operates as a trusted executive peer, balancing innovation with regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and measurable commercial outcomes.
The role spans portfolio ownership, AI adoption, vendor and commercial leadership, and close partnership with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Security functions. The successful candidate will influence senior stakeholders, resolve prioritisation conflicts, and ensure delivery teams remain accountable for execution outcomes across a complex, regulated enterprise environment.
- Translate business strategy into prioritised, funded technology and AI roadmaps covering digital, data, automation, and platform modernisation.
- Own the technology and AI portfolio for Risk Advisory and GCUO, managing delivery performance, dependencies, and risk.
- Drive enterprise AI adoption by identifying high-value use cases, planning operating model impacts, and embedding AI into workflows.
- Represent business unit needs in enterprise investment forums and own investment cases with clear ROI and measurable outcomes.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Security to ensure all technology and AI initiatives meet regulatory and control requirements.
- Shape vendor strategy, support contract negotiations, and manage supplier performance in alignment with business unit priorities.
- Deep experience in enterprise technology leadership, including cloud platforms, data and AI enablement, and agile delivery.
- Proven ability to manage complex technology portfolios across a regulated industry, preferably insurance or financial services.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to challenge executives and influence investment decisions constructively.
- Understanding of Responsible AI principles, data privacy, and model risk management in a regulated context.
- Demonstrated capability in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and driving alignment across competing business agendas.
