Fractional Head of Product

X4 Technology is seeking an experienced Head of Product to lead an AI-powered platform serving banks and credit unions. The platform is already built to a strong technical standard, with solid architecture and thorough documentation. The focus of this role is defining what gets built next, directing the engineers who build it, and ensuring the platform delivers genuine commercial value.

Working alongside internal subject matter experts, leadership, partner banks, and investors, the successful candidate will bridge business requirements and technical delivery. They will also own the platform's cloud infrastructure, data assets, security posture, and vendor relationships, including preparing the platform for bank vendor due diligence such as SOC 2 and penetration testing. Both fractional and full-time arrangements are open for the right candidate.

• Translate internal team workflows into clear specifications, requirements, and acceptance criteria for the engineering team.
• Own and manage the product backlog, maintaining written records of scope changes and keeping requirements traceable to what is built.
• Define and measure AI accuracy benchmarks, covering extraction accuracy, hallucination management, and human review thresholds.
• Own the post-launch AI governance roadmap, including safeguards and structured UAT and defect-tracking processes.
• Hire, manage, and direct internal engineers and external contractors, maintaining strong engineering processes including design reviews and staged deployment pipelines.
• Manage the Azure environment, including Azure OpenAI usage, capacity, costs, and access governance, and lead preparation for bank vendor due diligence.

• Previous experience as a CTO, VP of Product, or Head of Product at an early-stage B2B SaaS company, ideally with AI features in production.
• Solid, practical understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations, including hallucination risks and mitigation approaches.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and contractors across the full product lifecycle.
• Background in financial services, particularly working with banks or credit unions, or experience in contract analysis or vendor negotiation.
• Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders including investors and partner banks.
