A fractional Head of Finance role for a pre-seed metro-edge AI infrastructure venture, leading project finance, capital structure design, integrated financial modelling, and investor-ready materials across a multi-site deployment platform.
Perimeter Compute, co-founded by Montauk Capital, is a pre-seed venture building modular, metro-edge AI infrastructure across metro markets, beginning with pilot nodes in New York City. Individual deployment sites may be structured through dedicated property-level entities or special-purpose vehicles, creating a capital-intensive, project-based platform that requires robust financial architecture from the outset.
The Fractional Head of Finance will work at the intersection of data centre development finance, project finance, real estate, energy, and compute infrastructure. The role begins on a part-time basis with a clear path to broader finance leadership as the company raises additional capital and expands its multi-metro network. This is a hands-on, commercially oriented position suited to someone who can move between detailed modelling and high-level deal judgement without a predefined playbook.
- Design and implement a multi-entity financial structure covering the parent company and site-level project companies or SPVs
- Build and maintain an integrated financial model spanning site deployment, equipment, power, utilisation, pricing, and operating assumptions
- Structure and evaluate commercial arrangements with real estate partners, including revenue-share, fixed-lease, and hybrid models
- Develop financing strategies for GPUs, servers, power systems, and other data centre infrastructure, including equipment finance, leasing, and debt
- Lead development finance analysis for new sites, including budgets, sources and uses, project returns, and financing requirements
- Prepare investor-ready financial materials, data-room reporting, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support upcoming financing rounds
- Direct experience in data centre and/or commercial real estate development finance, including underwriting site costs, capital needs, and project-level returns
- Background in project finance, structured finance, infrastructure finance, or equipment finance
- Demonstrated ability to build project-level financial models and evaluate complex capital structures and commercial arrangements
- Experience working with SPVs, project entities, or multi-entity ownership and financing structures
- Strong understanding of debt, leases, equipment financing, cash-flow waterfalls, and financing tradeoffs
- Comfort operating in an early-stage, high-ambiguity environment and beginning on a fractional or part-time basis
