Honeywell Technologies is seeking a General Counsel to own legal strategy across government contracts and cybersecurity. The role advises on U.S. government contract regulations including FAR, DFARS, and DPAS, while partnering closely with the CISO, CTO, and engineering teams to embed legal guidance into product development, incident response, and commercial operations. The position reports to the VP and General Counsel, Chief Regulatory Officer and manages a Government Contracts Analyst, with a matrix relationship to the VP and General Counsel for Data Privacy.

The role carries significant influence over legal and business strategy, covering compliance governance, cybersecurity incident response, supplier screening, contract negotiations, and regulatory readiness across a complex, globally operating technology business. Working from Washington, DC or Charlotte, NC on a hybrid schedule.

Job Responsibilities
  • Advise business and legal stakeholders on U.S. government contract compliance obligations, including FAR, DFARS, DPAS, domestic preference requirements, and representations and certifications
  • Develop and maintain government contract compliance policies, procedures, controls, training, and KPI/KRI reporting in partnership with cross-functional teams and outside counsel
  • Monitor regulatory developments, oversee supplier and product screening, and support investigations, remediation, audits, and site risk assessments
  • Serve as a standing member of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team, managing legal risk, privilege strategy, regulatory notifications, and communications during cyber incidents
  • Counsel on secure product development, coordinated vulnerability disclosure, and regulatory readiness across CMMC, NIST SP 800-171/800-53, SEC cybersecurity rules, NIS2, and the EU Cyber Resilience Act
  • Structure and negotiate information security terms across customer, supplier, partner, and M&A agreements, and monitor emerging cybersecurity legislation affecting government contracting
Job Requirments
  • JD or equivalent, admitted to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction
  • 10 or more years of legal experience with significant focus on government contracts and cybersecurity matters
  • Proven expertise across FAR, DFARS, DPAS, DFARS 252.204-7012, NIST SP 800-171/800-53, CMMC, and SEC cybersecurity disclosure rules
  • Strong contracting and drafting capability covering prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, security addenda, and flow-down clauses
  • Experience with crisis management, breach notifications, regulatory engagement, DCAA/DCMA touchpoints, and government contractor compliance frameworks
  • Ability to lead independently, influence senior stakeholders, and operate across legal, compliance, security, engineering, supply chain, and commercial teams
