A part-time General Counsel role with a multi-state cannabis operator, leading enterprise legal strategy, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and operational risk management.
Bloom Dispensaries is seeking a part-time General Counsel to serve as a senior executive leader across its vertically integrated, multi-state cannabis operations. This is not a purely advisory legal role. The successful candidate will integrate governance, strategic execution, operational oversight, and regulatory management within a fast-moving, highly regulated environment.
The position is based at the Boca Raton corporate office, with an expectation of three onsite days per week and quarterly travel to Ohio and Maryland locations for compliance audits. The role requires an executive capable of evaluating decisions across operational, financial, legal, and regulatory dimensions simultaneously, with at least ten years of senior leadership experience in cannabis or a comparably regulated industry. A JD degree is strongly preferred.
- Advise ownership and executive leadership on governance, regulatory exposure, operational risk, and business strategy.
- Oversee contractual matters, governance structures, executive policies, and strategic business negotiations.
- Lead board meetings and serve as a senior liaison with regulators, external counsel, and key stakeholders.
- Support corporate development activities, licensing matters, and organisational growth initiatives.
- Review vendor contracts, credit agreements, and HR policies to assess risk and ensure compliance.
- Conduct quarterly onsite compliance and operational audits at Ohio and Maryland locations.
- JD degree or equivalent senior business and legal leadership experience.
- 10 or more years of executive or senior leadership experience in cannabis or a similarly regulated industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex regulatory, operational, or corporate governance matters.
- Strong understanding of contracts, enterprise risk, and multi-state compliance frameworks.
- Executive-level communication, political judgement, and high emotional intelligence.
- Ability to operate effectively within evolving regulatory environments and periods of organisational change.
