This senior interim role sits within CorpAcq Stadium, Salford, appointed through Salford City Council on a fixed-term basis to 31 March 2027. The Finance Director will provide strategic financial oversight, lead continuous improvement across finance systems and controls, and support the Stadium Director and Board in delivering organisational priorities. The postholder will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, risk management and statutory compliance, while also contributing to commercial planning and the stadium's development as a multi-purpose venue.

The role carries line management responsibility for the finance team and involves engagement with anchor tenants, leaseholders, service partners and key stakeholders. A review of current bookkeeping, payroll, purchase ordering and budgeting arrangements is expected, with practical recommendations and implementation to follow.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, monitoring and control of revenue and capital budgets, ensuring resources are clearly identified and aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Provide timely financial advice, analysis and reporting to the Stadium Director, Board and senior leadership to support sound decision-making.
  • Implement and embed robust financial systems, procedures and controls that meet statutory requirements and corporate governance standards.
  • Review and improve existing arrangements for bookkeeping, payroll, purchase ordering and financial reporting, delivering practical recommendations.
  • Support development of the stadium business plan, including options to grow commercial income and broaden the venue's use.
  • Manage and develop the finance team, setting clear expectations and maintaining strong performance standards.
Job Requirments
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, managing and monitoring significant revenue and capital budgets in a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong technical finance skills with a track record of delivering outcomes and providing credible professional advice.
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation, accountancy practice, financial governance and statutory requirements.
  • Professional accounting qualification or equivalent credibility gained through substantial relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to support reporting and analysis.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with external partners, clients and service providers, with experience managing people and performance.
