A fractional Finance Director opportunity with a multi-channel fashion and retail business, leading the finance function on a part-time basis and providing both strategic oversight and hands-on financial management.
A fast-growing, multi-channel fashion business operating across retail, wholesale and e-commerce is seeking an experienced Fractional Finance Director to support its next stage of growth. Backed by overseas shareholders and managing a portfolio of established apparel brands, the company is looking for a finance leader who is comfortable in a founder-led, entrepreneurial environment and can balance strategic commercial finance with hands-on day-to-day financial management.
The successful candidate will bring a strong grasp of inventory-led business dynamics, including stock management, supply chain finance, seasonal trading cycles and gross margin optimisation. Reporting directly to the founders and liaising with international shareholders, this is a high-impact, flexible engagement for a qualified finance professional with relevant consumer or retail sector experience.
- Own and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, monitoring liquidity and advising on funding requirements.
- Produce monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting packs for founders and shareholders.
- Analyse profitability by product category, customer and sales channel to support pricing and margin decisions.
- Monitor inventory valuation, stock turns, ageing inventory and sell-through rates to improve working capital performance.
- Manage VAT, statutory compliance and external reporting requirements while strengthening financial controls.
- Build scalable finance processes and systems infrastructure to underpin future growth.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience as a Finance Director, Head of Finance or Financial Controller.
- Background in fashion, apparel, retail, consumer or inventory-led businesses is essential.
- Strong cash flow, working capital and inventory finance expertise.
- Proven experience reporting to shareholders, investors or business founders.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Proficiency with Xero or comparable cloud-based accounting platforms.
