Interim Finance Director

This interim Finance Director role sits within a PE-backed freight forwarding and transportation business operating near Heathrow. The assignment is structured as an initial six-month contract, requiring a finance leader who can establish credibility quickly and take full ownership of the finance function from day one.

The role carries broad commercial and operational scope, covering budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, cash flow oversight and financial controls. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, board and Private Equity investors, and may also support strategic activity such as M&A, integration or broader transformation initiatives. Sector experience in freight forwarding, logistics or transportation is considered essential, and prior exposure to PE-backed environments is strongly preferred.

• Take full ownership of the finance function for the duration of the interim period.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes.
• Oversee cash flow, working capital and liquidity management.
• Strengthen financial controls, reporting disciplines and processes.
• Partner with the CEO, board and Private Equity investors on reporting and strategic decisions.
• Lead and develop the existing finance team, and support potential M&A or transformation activity as required.

• Proven experience operating as a Finance Director or senior finance leader in an interim capacity.
• Hands-on background in freight forwarding, logistics, transport or a closely related sector.
• Previous experience working within a Private Equity-backed business environment.
• Strong grasp of working capital, cash management and commercial finance.
• Effective communicator with experience engaging PE investors and boards.
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.
