Interim Director of Accounting (Hybrid)

This interim engagement calls for an experienced accounting leader to take ownership of financial operations for a client organisation active in the healthcare and nonprofit sectors. The director will oversee month-end close, payroll and related entries, accruals, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance, while utilising Great Plains for financial management and reporting.

The role requires a hands-on approach across multiple concurrent workstreams, including developing and implementing financial policies, preparing reports for senior leadership and stakeholders, and collaborating with other departments to support strategic planning. A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required, with CPA or MBA preferred, along with a minimum of five years in a comparable role. Prior nonprofit experience is strongly advantageous.

• Oversee month-end close processes, including payroll entries, accruals, budgets, and projections
• Manage financial reporting and present results to senior management and stakeholders
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
• Lead, mentor, and review the work of the finance team
• Manage the annual budgeting process, including forecasts and financial models
• Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and support strategic planning

• Minimum five years of experience in a comparable accounting leadership role
• Proven experience with month-end close, payroll, accruals, budgeting, and forecasting
• Proficiency in Great Plains or equivalent financial management software
• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
• Nonprofit sector experience preferred; knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations required
