Interim Director of Human Resources (Hospital)

Scion Staffing is placing an Interim Director of Human Resources with a large, complex healthcare organisation in Fort Worth, Texas. The engagement is anticipated to run up to six months and is 100% onsite. The primary focus is Employee Relations, with additional accountability across HR Business Partnership, employee engagement, learning and development, and talent initiatives during a period of active organisational transition.

The successful candidate will provide senior-level, hands-on leadership while partnering closely with executives and HR colleagues. They will assess current HR operations and service delivery, recommend practical improvements, and maintain compliance with Joint Commission requirements and broader healthcare HR standards. This is a highly visible role with meaningful autonomy and decision-making authority.

• Lead Employee Relations and HR Business Partnership functions, providing guidance on investigations, corrective action, performance management, terminations and employment-related risk.
• Coach and develop HRBPs to operate as proactive, consultative business partners who can confidently advise leaders and assess risk.
• Assess existing HR operations, team structure and processes, providing senior leadership with actionable recommendations for improvement.
• Oversee employee engagement, learning and development, and talent initiatives, partnering with managers to maintain continuity and strengthen effectiveness.
• Maintain healthcare regulatory and accreditation readiness, including Joint Commission requirements related to job descriptions, credentials and workforce competency.
• Partner visibly with executives, managers and HR colleagues across a complex healthcare environment, balancing operational needs with broader organisational strategy.

• HR leadership experience within an acute-care hospital environment; safety-net, Level I trauma or similarly complex settings strongly preferred.
• Deep Employee Relations expertise including complex investigations, corrective action, terminations, policy interpretation and executive-level consultation.
• Strong working knowledge of Joint Commission requirements and healthcare HR compliance obligations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR Business Partners while functioning as both a strategic advisor and hands-on practitioner.
• Experience overseeing or partnering across talent management, learning and development, employee engagement or organisational development functions.
