Job Summary

An interim Director of FP&A engaged to build the U.S. financial planning and analysis function for a well-capitalised global entertainment company, reporting directly to the CFO in a lean, high-ownership environment.

Job Details

The client is a well-capitalised global entertainment company in an active growth phase. Their U.S. finance team is currently lean and accounting-focused, and the business needs a strong FP&A function built from the ground up. This is a builder role, not a maintenance role, covering foundational deliverables, commercial deal underwriting, and M&A support simultaneously.

The engagement is structured as a three-month interim assignment based onsite in Century City, Los Angeles three days per week, with potential to convert to a permanent position. The director will report directly to the CFO and must operate with broad scope and initiative from day one, in an environment where systems and infrastructure are still evolving.

Job Responsibilities
  • Build and own the U.S. FP&A function, starting with foundational deliverables including a 13-week cash flow forecast and operating model, then expanding into commercial deal management and M&A support
  • Operationalise the company's long-range and strategic plans, translating high-level targets into a detailed U.S. operating layer with assumptions, drivers, and accountability metrics
  • Develop and maintain commercial underwriting models covering deal economics, return profiles, and recoupment dynamics across core business investments
  • Partner with the CFO on M&A financial analysis and deal-specific modelling across an active acquisition pipeline
  • Establish the 13-week cash flow forecast as an ongoing, repeatable process built from the ground up
  • Extract, structure, and model data across Excel and evolving internal systems, sourcing and cleaning data independently rather than relying on pre-packaged reports
Job Requirments
  • Entertainment industry background, including film, TV, streaming, media, events, or an adjacent commercial entertainment business model
  • Broad FP&A skill set with comfort across operating models, commercial deal analysis, and M&A financial modelling simultaneously
  • Strong financial modelling capability, including building models from scratch without relying on existing templates
  • Ability to query and prepare raw data independently, bringing it to a model-ready state
  • Self-directed and resourceful, comfortable operating without established playbooks in an environment where systems are still developing
  • Preferred: M&A deal modelling experience, private equity or investment banking background, and familiarity with Microsoft Business Central and/or NetSuite or SQL
