Director Finance and Governance (Part-Time)
A part-time Director Finance and Governance role reporting directly to the CEO of a Melbourne-based, purpose-driven consultancy, covering strategic finance, governance, risk and commercial operations.
This is a newly created, senior leadership position within a Melbourne-based purpose-driven consultancy executing an ambitious growth strategy. Reporting to the CEO, the Director Finance and Governance will hold a broad CFO-style portfolio spanning strategic finance, board governance, enterprise risk and commercial operations. The role operates in a hybrid working environment and is structured as a flexible part-time engagement, approximately three days per week.
The successful candidate will be a qualified finance executive (CA or CPA) with demonstrated senior finance leadership experience, ideally gained in consulting, professional services or purpose-led organisations. Strong corporate governance, board reporting expertise and exposure to outsourced finance models are essential. Experience in social enterprise or ESG-focused environments will be well regarded.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and organisational performance reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop board-level reporting, governance papers and executive recommendations.
- Maintain and enhance enterprise risk management frameworks, insurance programs and business continuity planning.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, contractual and ACNC obligations.
- Oversee outsourced finance, payroll and bookkeeping providers while assessing the future operating model.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to support growth, commercial decisions and governance maturity.
- CA or CPA qualification with demonstrated senior finance leadership experience.
- Strong corporate governance and board reporting expertise.
- Experience across risk management, compliance and organisational assurance.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.
- Exceptional written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Exposure to outsourced finance models and experience supporting CEOs and Boards.
