Cybersecurity Consultant (Contractor)

Avertium is looking for a contract Cybersecurity Consultant to join its Acceleration and Optimisation team, with a specific focus on Microsoft Cloud infrastructure and applications. The consultant will work with clients to design and deliver security strategies, architecture, and controls, including SIEM, DLP, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection. The role demands strong client-facing skills, the ability to lead architecture and integration projects, and the capacity to produce clear documentation, diagrams, and implementation plans.

The position suits someone who can operate independently in a remote environment, apply relevant frameworks such as CIS, NIST, PCI, and HIPAA, and bring subject-matter expertise across cloud platforms and the Microsoft security stack. Experience spanning IAM/PAM, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, and SOAR is highly valued.

• Collaborate with clients to define cybersecurity strategies, frameworks, and roadmaps aligned with business objectives and risk appetite
• Design and implement security controls and technologies including SIEM, DLP, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection systems
• Develop secure system, network, and cloud architectures in line with regulatory requirements and client needs
• Lead and manage complex cybersecurity projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and to quality standards
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and handling escalations effectively
• Monitor emerging threats and contribute to thought leadership through whitepapers, presentations, and internal training

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT audit, or a related discipline with progressive responsibility
• Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Cloud security tools including Sentinel, Defender XDR, Purview, Entra, and Intune
• Hands-on experience with IAM/PAM/PIM, CASB, SIEM, SOAR, and WAF solutions
• Proficiency in DevSecOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (e.g. CloudFormation, ARM Templates), and scripting across multiple platforms
• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
