A fractional CTO and technical co-founder opportunity to lead technical execution for an enterprise AI Quality Engineering platform, bringing an existing engineering organisation to shape architecture, AI development, and cloud infrastructure.
TestMate AI is building an enterprise-grade, agentic Quality Engineering platform for regulated industries including healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, and government. The platform is designed to plan, generate, execute, diagnose, remediate, and continuously improve software quality at scale across large organisations.
The fractional CTO will partner directly with the founding team to define and execute technical strategy, deliver a production-grade multi-tenant platform, and lead engineering across AI and agentic development, DevOps, security, and enterprise integrations including CI/CD pipelines and compliance-aligned architecture. This is a long-term equity partnership, not a consulting engagement.
- Define the technical architecture, engineering roadmap, and build-versus-buy decisions for the platform
- Lead and manage an existing engineering organisation across software, AI/ML, DevOps, security, and QA functions
- Drive development of AI and agentic capabilities including test generation, autonomous execution, self-healing automation, and failure diagnosis
- Deliver a production-grade enterprise platform incorporating Playwright, GitHub, Jira, CI/CD, RBAC, SAML/OIDC, and multi-tenancy
- Establish engineering standards, development processes, and accountability structures
- Recruit additional technical talent as the platform scales toward SOC 2 and HIPAA-aligned compliance
- Current or former CTO, VP Engineering, or technical co-founder with hands-on enterprise platform experience
- Ability to bring an existing engineering team of 10 to 30 or more engineers to the partnership
- Demonstrated experience building enterprise SaaS or AI/ML platforms at scale
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices
- Comfort with regulated industry requirements including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA-ready architecture
- Willingness to take meaningful equity ownership rather than traditional consulting compensation
