Interim Chief Technology Officer

McCabe & Barton is recruiting an Interim Chief Technology Officer on behalf of an established UK SaaS business, with a clear pathway to a permanent appointment. The CTO will report directly to the CEO and take ownership of the technology strategy across a broad leadership remit, covering platform modernisation, architecture improvement, and delivery capability.

The successful candidate will step into an existing technology environment and lead its continued evolution. A strong background in SaaS platform transformation is particularly relevant, ideally gained within a regulated or complex customer-facing setting. The role also carries responsibility for governance, security, operational resilience, and ensuring technology investment aligns with commercial priorities.

• Define and execute the technology strategy and forward roadmap
• Lead the modernisation and ongoing evolution of the core SaaS platform
• Drive major technology transformation programmes across the business
• Develop the technology operating model and build internal capability
• Manage strategic technology and delivery partners
• Strengthen governance, security frameworks, and operational resilience

• Proven experience as a CTO, Technology Director, or senior technology leader
• Track record of leading SaaS platform transformation and modernisation
• Ability to combine strategic leadership with hands-on engagement in delivery
• Experience operating within regulated or complex customer-facing environments
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to work closely with a CEO and leadership team
• Comfortable in an interim engagement with intent to transition to permanent
