A fractional CTO opportunity with a Toronto-based digital agency, responsible for shaping the structure, leadership, and operating model of a growing technology practice spanning web, mobile, backend, QA, and AI.
BIMM is a Toronto-based agency working across data, technology, and creativity, delivering digital products and connected customer experiences for clients in automotive, financial services, telco, and retail. The technology practice is roughly 60 people and generates close to $13M in direct technology work annually across web, mobile, backend engineering, QA, and an expanding AI capability.
This fractional CTO engagement is a part-time, senior leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, working alongside BIMM's existing technology leadership team. The initial term is six months with an option to extend. Candidates based within the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area are expected to work from the Distillery District office two days per week.
- Partner with the CEO and technology leadership team to design an organisational structure and operating model that scales across strategy, roadmap, presales, and delivery.
- Coach and develop existing technology leaders, building their capability and confidence as the organisation grows.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with key technology partners, including defining how architecture and delivery teams collaborate with partner organisations.
- Establish governance and process that allows BIMM to invest in internal technology initiatives while maintaining client focus across web, mobile, AI, and emerging technologies.
- Provide senior technical leadership on new business pitches, proposals, and client opportunities.
- Advise the CEO on long-term technology leadership needs as the organisation continues to scale.
- Extensive experience leading technology organisations, ideally within an agency, consultancy, or professional services environment.
- Proven track record managing global teams that blend local, nearshore, and offshore resourcing models.
- Prior experience operating in a fractional, interim, or advisory capacity.
- Strong background managing complex client and partner relationships, including joint venture or embedded delivery models.
- Broad technical credibility across web, mobile, AI, QA, and architecture, with familiarity across React, Node.js, native Swift, and Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Comfortable operating at the executive level and directly with clients and partners.
