Fractional Chief Operating Officer, Charter School Network

Stronger Consulting has been retained by a growing charter school network to place a Fractional COO for a 10-month engagement at 25 to 30 hours per week. The role requires availability during Pacific business hours and is open to candidates based anywhere in the United States. The COO will work closely with the CEO and school leaders to oversee day-to-day operations, strengthen systems, and build operational infrastructure capable of supporting continued growth.

This is a senior operational leadership role spanning facilities, HR administration, compliance, finance coordination, and vendor management across multiple school sites. The successful candidate will translate strategic priorities into execution, assess and restructure existing processes, and represent operations in board and leadership meetings.

• Lead network-wide operations including facilities, HR administration, compliance, and finance coordination across all school sites
• Partner with the CEO to translate strategic priorities into clear operational plans and execution
• Assess current systems and identify where staffing, structure, or processes require change
• Build and refine policies, procedures, and reporting frameworks across the network
• Support budgeting and resource allocation in collaboration with the finance function
• Mentor and manage operations staff at both network and school levels, and represent operations to the board as needed

• 15 or more years of senior leadership experience in charter school systems and operations
• Direct experience managing operations across multiple school sites within a charter network
• Demonstrated track record of building or strengthening operational systems in a growth-stage or transitional organisation
• Strong knowledge across school operations domains including HR, facilities, compliance, finance coordination, and vendor management
• Comfort working independently in a fractional or interim capacity with limited on-site presence
• Availability aligned to Pacific business hours regardless of home location
