Your Part-Time Controller (YPTC) is a nationally recognised outsourced accounting firm specialising in nonprofit organisations. This Controller position sits across multiple client engagements in the Bay Area, spanning counties including San Francisco, Alameda, Santa Clara, and Marin. The role is hybrid, combining virtual and on-site client work, and suits a hands-on accounting professional who is comfortable advising boards, finance committees, and executive staff.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for transforming client accounting functions, implementing internal controls, managing transactional processes, and leading audit preparation. Both full-time and part-time arrangements are available, with a people-focused culture and strong professional development support.
- Serve as outsourced Controller/CFO across multiple nonprofit client accounts
- Lead financial reporting for management, boards of directors, and finance committees
- Recommend and implement improvements to internal controls, compliance policies, and accounting operations
- Manage transactional functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Oversee grant allocations, funder reporting, and annual audit preparation
- Deliver analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and data visualisation to support client decision-making
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus
- 7 or more years of progressive accounting experience, with recent nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit financial reporting, compliance, and grant management
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with multiple general ledger systems, particularly QuickBooks
- Ability to manage multiple client relationships independently in a hybrid virtual and on-site environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish is an advantage
