A part-time Controller role owning end-to-end accounting, revenue recognition, and financial planning for a subscription-driven EdTech platform, reporting to the CEO at approximately 10-20 hours per week.
SuperSummary is a fully remote EdTech business offering a literature platform with nearly 10,000 expert-crafted study guides, AI-powered reading tools, and a paid subscription model. The company is part of the Lift Ventures portfolio and serves students, teachers, book clubs, and independent learners globally.
The Controller will own the monthly close process, revenue recognition under ASC 606, and subscription billing operations via ChargeBee and Stripe. Beyond the books, the role drives budgeting, rolling forecasts, SaaS KPI reporting (MRR, ARR, churn, LTV, CAC), and scenario modelling. The Controller partners directly with the CEO and VP of Operations, supervises a bookkeeper, and supports process automation and financial tooling improvements.
- Own the end-to-end monthly close process, producing accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
- Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606, including deferred revenue, chargebacks, cancellations, and prior-period adjustments
- Oversee ChargeBee and Stripe billing operations, ensuring subscription data flows accurately into the general ledger
- Build and maintain the annual budget, rolling revenue forecasts, and SaaS metric dashboards (MRR, ARR, churn, LTV, CAC)
- Conduct monthly and quarterly variance analysis and present financial insights to the leadership team
- Evaluate and improve financial tools, workflows, and internal controls, including AI-assisted reconciliation processes
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with meaningful time in a SaaS or subscription business
- Controller-level depth across monthly close, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and full financial statement preparation
- Hands-on experience with subscription billing platforms and how billing events flow into the general ledger
- Strong FP&A capability, including rolling forecasts, scenario modelling, and variance analysis
- Comfortable presenting financial data and insights directly to senior leadership and non-finance stakeholders
- Proficiency with accounting software and a working understanding of ERP systems, billing integrations, and reporting tools
