S+H Search is recruiting experienced interim Controllers and senior accounting leaders for a range of consulting engagements with clients across multiple industries and company sizes. Engagements vary in scope and duration, from short-term projects through to multi-month interim placements, and may be conducted onsite, hybrid, or remotely depending on client requirements.
Typical work includes month-end and year-end close management, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, general ledger oversight, internal controls, audit coordination, and ERP or accounting system transitions. Private equity-backed company experience is valued, particularly where acquisitions, integrations, or rapid-growth environments are involved. Compensation is dependent on experience and engagement budget.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes for client organisations
- Produce financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Oversee general ledger management and account reconciliations
- Assess accounting operations and identify process improvement opportunities
- Lead and coordinate accounting teams, working cross-functionally with finance, operations, and executive leadership
- Support M&A integrations, ERP implementations, and audit readiness initiatives
- Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader
- Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience leading accounting teams and collaborating across functions
- Ability to quickly adapt to new systems, processes, and business environments
- Strong Excel and ERP systems proficiency
- Private equity-backed company experience is a strong advantage
