Fractional Controller

This fractional Controller role sits across multiple client engagements, overseeing general ledger management, account reconciliations, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The position also covers month-end and year-end close, cash flow monitoring, budgeting oversight, and coordination with external CPAs and auditors.

Beyond day-to-day reporting, the Controller is expected to develop and refine accounting policies, recommend process improvements, and deliver clear financial insights to client leadership teams who may not have a finance background. The role is fully remote and requires strong self-direction when managing competing client deadlines.

• Maintain general ledgers and review account reconciliations across multiple client organisations
• Prepare GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely delivery
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial performance, flagging issues to client leadership
• Coordinate with external CPAs and auditors as required
• Develop accounting policies and recommend process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency

• Demonstrated experience in a Controller, Fractional Controller, or senior accounting role, preferably in a multi-client or consulting environment
• Strong command of GAAP financial reporting, general ledger management, and account reconciliation
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks and cloud-based financial tools
• Solid understanding of internal controls and process improvement practices for SMB accounting operations
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements remotely and meet competing deadlines independently
• CPA or CMA designation highly preferred; bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
