An interim Controller role providing hands-on accounting leadership for a growing consumer products manufacturer in San Diego, covering two operating entities during an organisational transition.
A rapidly growing consumer products manufacturer requires an experienced interim Controller to provide accounting leadership and operational support across two related operating entities. The engagement begins part-time from October through December, scaling to a full-time commitment from January through March, with a hybrid schedule of two to three days onsite weekly in San Diego.
This is a hands-on role suited to a detail-oriented accounting professional with deep manufacturing experience. The Controller will oversee month-end close, strengthen processes and controls, mentor the accounting team, and support leadership through a period of organisational change. Experience with consumer goods companies and cost accounting is strongly preferred.
- Oversee month-end close processes across two related operating entities
- Review reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy
- Support and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and structure
- Strengthen and refine accounting processes, controls, and workflows
- Support manufacturing and inventory cost accounting and operational reporting
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations in partnership with leadership
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Eight or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing, inventory, and cost accounting
- Experience with consumer products or CPG companies preferred
- Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and ability to adapt in a growing, entrepreneurial organisation
