Fractional Controller

A well-established professional services organisation is seeking a Fractional Controller to manage daily financial operations during a transition period. The role involves close collaboration with senior leadership and equity partners across cash flow management, payroll processing for approximately 42 employees and 12 equity partners, accounts receivable oversight, and partner distribution coordination. Previous law firm or legal industry accounting experience is highly preferred.

The successful candidate will be comfortable handling sensitive financial information with discretion, working in a cash-based accounting environment, and communicating financial position clearly to leadership and partners. Familiarity with SurePoint is an advantage in this hands-on, fully on-site position.

• Manage daily cash activity, including fund allocation, separation from operating income, and bank account monitoring.
• Process and review payroll for approximately 42 employees and 12 equity partners, including reconciliations in a cash-based environment.
• Oversee accounts receivable and collections activity, coordinating with the external collections team and communicating with clients as needed.
• Determine timing and amounts for partner distributions based on available cash and overall financial position, then coordinate and process those distributions.
• Use SurePoint to review and manage financial data and support day-to-day accounting operations.
• Communicate cash flow position and upcoming financial obligations clearly to leadership and equity partners.

• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or in a comparable senior accounting role.
• Strong cash management skills and experience managing detailed payroll processes and reports.
• Solid understanding of accounts receivable and collections procedures.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with senior leadership and equity partners.
• Previous law firm or legal industry accounting experience highly preferred; SurePoint familiarity an advantage.
