Fractional Controller

Alterian requires a fractional Controller to partner with leadership on maintaining accurate general ledger records, preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, and overseeing accounts payable, receivable, and payroll. The role is part-time and fully remote, suited to a self-directed professional comfortable working across distributed teams.

Beyond day-to-day accounting, the Controller will develop and refine budgeting and forecasting models, monitor cash flow, coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors, and support compliance with applicable accounting standards. The role also involves reviewing and improving financial systems and workflows, and delivering strategic financial insights to support leadership decision-making.

• Maintain accurate general ledger records and oversee accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processes
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Develop and refine budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring models
• Review and improve financial systems, workflows, and internal controls
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to support compliance and audit processes
• Deliver strategic financial insights and communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders

• Demonstrated experience as a Controller, Finance Manager, or senior accounting leader, with fractional or consulting experience an advantage
• Strong GAAP knowledge, including general ledger management and preparation of financial statements
• Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management
• Background in internal controls, compliance, and audit coordination
• Proficiency with accounting and ERP software, spreadsheets, and cloud-based financial tools
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
