Thriveon is seeking a fractional CIO to serve as a strategic technology advisor to mid-sized construction, manufacturing, and legal firms across Minnesota. The role involves shaping IT roadmaps, overseeing cybersecurity posture, managing vendor relationships, and providing executive-level counsel to CEOs, CFOs, and COOs. Up to 50% of the work is conducted on-site at client locations.
The successful candidate will govern IT portfolios, drive cost transparency, model ROI for technology investments, and establish KPIs that demonstrate measurable business outcomes. Experience working across multiple concurrent client environments in the mid-market segment ($50M to $900M revenue) is essential to this position.
- Develop and maintain IT roadmaps aligned to client business strategy, growth targets, and operational requirements.
- Advise CEOs, CFOs, and COOs on technology investment decisions, system selections, and prioritisation trade-offs.
- Oversee cybersecurity posture, incident readiness, and compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
- Define standards for IT budgeting, vendor selection, and portfolio optimisation across ERP, CRM, and cloud platforms.
- Model ROI for IT investments and drive cost transparency across technology services and systems.
- Establish KPIs for IT effectiveness and provide mentorship to internal and vendor teams.
- 10 or more years of experience in a senior IT leadership role such as CIO or VP of IT.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent client or business-unit relationships in mid-market environments.
- Strong background in cybersecurity leadership, IT governance, and risk management.
- Deep knowledge of business applications including ERP, CRM, and cloud platforms.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly at executive level and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Must be authorised to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
