Fractional Chief Information Officer
A fractional CIO role at a heavy civil construction firm, partnering with executive leadership to modernise IT strategy, build governance frameworks, and lead a multi-year technology transformation.
MBC Holdings is a well-established heavy civil construction company seeking a Fractional CIO to shift IT from a reactive support function into a strategic business enabler. The role sits at executive level, reporting directly to the CEO and CFO, and carries responsibility for shaping a 3-5 year technology roadmap that covers cloud migration, AI readiness, cybersecurity, and ERP evolution.
The incoming CIO will inherit a capable internal IT team and be expected to raise leadership standards, introduce modern governance including a Change Advisory Board, improve vendor and MSP accountability, and build a data foundation capable of supporting analytics and future acquisitions. This is a strategic leadership position, not an operational or hands-on technical role.
- Develop and execute the enterprise-wide technology strategy in partnership with the CEO, CFO, and executive team
- Coach and develop the existing IT leadership team, raising accountability and organisational expectations
- Establish Change Advisory Board governance, portfolio management standards, and technology policies
- Oversee cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and business continuity planning
- Lead enterprise data strategy, Power BI governance, and AI enablement initiatives
- Guide ERP strategy around eCMS and future platform evolution, and manage vendor and MSP performance through measurable SLAs
- Former CIO, CTO, or senior technology executive with 20 or more years of progressive IT leadership
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise digital transformation programmes
- Background in construction technology environments
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem, Azure, cybersecurity, and enterprise data analytics
- Executive-level communication skills, including board-level presentation experience
- Preferred: experience with family-owned or closely held businesses, ERP modernisation, and AI or cloud strategy implementation
