A fractional CFO engagement supporting a growing energy-development business, covering strategic finance, FP&A, cash-flow management, and capital-raise activities at a critical stage of growth.
The client is a growing energy-development business seeking a hands-on fractional CFO to lead strategic finance and build practical financial infrastructure. This is not a traditional accounting-focused role. The successful consultant will bring a strong strategic-finance background and experience supporting businesses with significant project-development and financing requirements.
The engagement covers the full FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, scenario analysis, and management reporting. The consultant will also support an active capital-raise process and partner with executive leadership on strategic planning and key business decisions. NetSuite experience is strongly preferred, and prior exposure to renewable energy, energy storage, infrastructure, or another capital-intensive sector is required.
- Lead the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, scenario analysis, and management reporting.
- Assess liquidity, runway, and near- and long-term financing requirements across the business and its development pipeline.
- Support the active capital-raise process, including financial modelling, investor and lender materials, diligence preparation, and financing strategy.
- Develop and improve reporting infrastructure to provide clear visibility into operating performance, project economics, and capital needs.
- Partner with executive and commercial teams on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and key business decisions.
- Evaluate and strengthen finance processes, controls, and NetSuite usage as the organisation scales.
- Significant experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Head of FP&A, or senior strategic-finance consultant.
- Demonstrated track record leading or materially supporting capital raises, financing strategy, and cash-management planning.
- Prior experience in renewable energy, energy storage, power, utilities, infrastructure, or a closely related capital-intensive industry (required).
- Strong FP&A capabilities, including forecasting, financial modelling, liquidity planning, and scenario analysis.
- Experience operating in an entrepreneurial, high-growth, or investor-facing environment.
- NetSuite experience strongly preferred, with strong communication skills and the presence to work directly with senior leadership.
