A governance-focused fractional CFO role supporting a third-generation Australian food manufacturing and FMCG business, providing strategic finance leadership approximately two days per week without day-to-day team management.
Trumps Pty Ltd is a family-owned, third-generation Queensland business with nearly 90 years of history sourcing, processing and supplying premium dry food products, including nuts, seeds, grains, legumes and dried fruit, to major supermarket brands, food service providers and bulk retailers across Australia.
The Fractional CFO will provide senior financial oversight approximately two days per week, reviewing monthly reporting, setting budgeting and forecasting strategy, managing cash flow and compliance, and presenting financials to bankers and key stakeholders. The role offers governance-level influence over a capable, self-sufficient finance team covering payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, credit management, business analysis, pricing and cost accounting, with a coaching rather than hands-on management approach. The engagement is ideally two to three years, with flexible structure open to part-time, day-rate or retainer arrangements.
- Review monthly financial reports prepared by the finance team and provide assurance to the leadership group
- Set financial strategy across budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, risk and compliance
- Lead the preparation of longer-range forecasts to support strategic planning and growth objectives
- Present budgets and financial accounts to external stakeholders including financiers and banking partners
- Advise on key commercial decisions, including site consolidation, and hold the business accountable on financial performance
- Coach and guide a self-sufficient finance team through regular check-ins, covering payroll, AP, credit, pricing and cost accounting functions
- CA or CPA qualification with a degree in Commerce or Accounting
- Substantial experience as a CFO, Finance Director or board-level finance professional, preferably in manufacturing, FMCG or food production
- Strong governance, risk and compliance background with the ability to critically review financials and challenge when required
- Experience with plant or cost accounting
- Coaching leadership style, supportive and trusting rather than hands-on in the detail
- Experience with Pronto or a comparable ERP system (desirable)
