Interim Global Controller / Director, Finance & Accounting (6 month assignment)
ThinkWell seeks an interim Global Controller to lead its global finance and accounting functions on a fully remote six-month engagement, reporting directly to the CEO.
This interim engagement requires an experienced finance leader to oversee ThinkWell's global accounting operations in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and US Government regulations including 2 CFR 200, FAR, and AIDAR. The role sits on the corporate management team, reporting to the CEO, and provides strategic financial counsel to senior leadership across a globally distributed organisation.
The Controller will manage multi-entity consolidation, donor-compliant cost allocation, indirect cost rate proposals, organisational budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and audit and tax preparation across all geographies. The position also carries responsibility for internal controls, financial reporting, and mentoring finance staff at various levels.
- Oversee global accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and invoicing in compliance with GAAP and US Government regulations
- Lead multi-entity consolidation and ensure costs are allocated in accordance with donor requirements
- Manage preparation for internal and external audits, including field work coordination and subsequent negotiations
- Develop and maintain indirect cost rate proposals and review indirect cost and fringe rate calculations regularly
- Lead organisational budgeting processes and review proposal budgets for compliance, quality, and accurate cost recovery
- Analyse the organisation's financial position and report on risk, opportunity, and recommended course corrections to leadership
- BA/BS with 15 or more years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with 12 or more years; active CPA required
- Demonstrated leadership in international development accounting, including intercompany reconciliation, subsidiary consolidation, and foreign exchange management
- Extensive knowledge of US Government regulations including 2 CFR 200, FAR, and AIDAR
- Prior experience developing corporate budgets, indirect cost rate proposals, and pricing strategies
- Expert Excel skills and strong grasp of the relationship between proposal budgets, project budgeting, and invoicing
- Outstanding cross-cultural communication skills and experience presenting technical financial information to non-technical audiences
