CFO Advisory Consultant

This role sits within the Client Accounting and Advisory Services practice at Sweeney Conrad, a Kirkland-based firm backed by Ascend, a private-equity-supported platform for regional accounting firms. The consultant will act as an outsourced CFO across a dedicated client portfolio, translating financial data into actionable strategy for ownership and leadership teams. The position operates on a hybrid schedule and reports directly to the Principal, Director of Client Accounting and Advisory Services.

Engagements span four industry verticals including Professional Services, Real Estate and Construction, Technology and Manufacturing, and High Net Worth Individuals. The adviser collaborates with both internal account teams and an offshore global team to ensure work is delivered at the appropriate level, while also supporting pre-acquisition diligence and change management through client transitions.

• Serve as outsourced CFO for a portfolio of clients, acting as a trusted adviser to ownership and leadership teams
• Lead forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow strategy to support real-time client decision-making
• Build KPI dashboards and financial reports that convert data into forward-looking insights
• Analyse income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Advise clients on accounting best practices, process improvement, and systems evaluation and implementation
• Support pre-sale and pre-acquisition diligence and guide clients through growth transitions and operational shifts

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a minimum of eight years of progressive experience
• At least three years in public accounting (audit preferred) and three years in a Controller or senior finance role in private industry
• Demonstrated experience at or near CFO level, including strategic planning, scenario analysis, and executive communication
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships simultaneously with strong organisational skills
• CPA designation preferred; CMA is considered an asset
