Interim Chief Financial Officer

StevenDouglas is placing an Interim CFO with a private equity-backed construction business for a 3-4 month engagement. The role centres on assessing and rebuilding percentage-of-completion (POC) and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting across active projects, with an initial focus in the Pacific Northwest. Heavy travel to project sites is required throughout the engagement.

The successful candidate will evaluate large multi-year projects for early signs of cost overruns, partner with project and operations leadership on cost forecasting and risk identification, and deliver an actionable financial improvement plan rapidly. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a seasoned construction finance leader who is comfortable stepping in and driving results from day one.

• Assess existing POC and WIP accounting processes across active construction projects
• Design and implement improved POC/WIP methodologies to strengthen reporting accuracy and reduce write-down risk
• Evaluate large, multi-year projects for early warning indicators of cost overruns
• Partner with project and operations leadership to improve cost forecasting and risk identification
• Develop a rapid, actionable plan based on an immediate financial assessment
• Travel extensively to project sites across multiple locations

• Deep, hands-on expertise in POC and WIP accounting within the construction industry
• Prior experience operating within a private equity-backed environment
• CFO-calibre strategic leadership and executive presence
• Ability to step into an interim role and deliver tangible impact quickly
