An interim CFO is needed for a growing Architecture and Engineering firm in Dallas, providing financial leadership across reporting, forecasting, project accounting and working capital during a period of transition.
A growing Architecture and Engineering firm in Dallas is seeking an experienced Interim CFO to lead all finance and accounting functions during a transitional period. The role spans strategic financial planning, project-based accounting, working capital improvement and team leadership, with direct partnership with the CEO on business decisions.
The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience in project accounting disciplines including WIP, utilisation, backlog, job costing and project profitability. They will also be expected to assess existing financial processes quickly, identify risks and opportunities, and strengthen controls and systems. A CPA or MBA is preferred, along with a background in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or professional services.
- Lead all finance and accounting functions including reporting, forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team on financial strategy and key business decisions
- Oversee project accounting including WIP, utilisation, backlog, job costing and project profitability
- Improve working capital, billing processes, collections and cash-flow forecasting
- Provide accurate financial reporting and proactively identify risks and opportunities
- Lead, mentor and support the existing accounting and finance team
- Evaluate and improve financial processes, controls and systems
- 10 or more years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience
- Prior experience in a CFO, VP Finance or equivalent senior finance leadership role
- Strong background in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or professional services strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of project-based accounting, WIP, utilisation and project margin analysis
- Hands-on and strategic approach, with the ability to assess a business quickly and deliver immediate impact
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
