Interim Chief Financial Officer

A well-established nonprofit organisation in St. Louis is seeking an interim CFO/VP of Finance to join its executive leadership team. The role combines strategic direction with hands-on accountability across all accounting and finance operations, working closely with the CEO to drive key decisions. A hybrid schedule is on offer, and there is potential for a permanent arrangement for the right candidate.

Candidates must be based locally in the St. Louis area. The organisation values a proactive, people-focused leader who is equally comfortable with operational detail and executive-level analysis. Experience in the nonprofit sector is strongly preferred, and a CPA or public accounting background is advantageous.

• Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and contribute to key organisational decisions
• Partner directly with the CEO to provide strategic financial direction
• Oversee all accounting and finance processes, including month-end and year-end close
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process
• Manage cash, treasury, and banking relationships
• Negotiate business contracts and insurance coverage, and supervise finance staff

• Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; MBA, Masters, or CPA is a plus
• 10 or more years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership roles
• Prior experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, or Finance Director
• Demonstrated expertise across accounting, cash and treasury management, banking, and strategic planning
• Experience in the nonprofit sector is highly preferred
• Proactive, approachable, and effective as a hands-on team leader
