CFO | Sport | Fractional

This confidential fractional engagement is with an established professional sports organisation based in South West England. The role requires a senior CFO or Finance Director who can combine commercial finance leadership with practical, operational involvement in finance transformation. The focus is on improving financial systems, reporting processes, and internal controls rather than providing purely advisory support.

The expected commitment is approximately 2 to 3 days per week, with regular on-site presence required, particularly during the initial engagement period. Experience in professional sport is advantageous but not essential. Candidates from commercially complex or investor-backed businesses with a strong track record of finance transformation are equally welcome to apply.

• Partner with the existing finance team to deliver operational improvements across systems, reporting, and controls
• Lead finance transformation initiatives to modernise processes and strengthen financial governance
• Provide senior commercial finance oversight and strategic input to leadership
• Develop and maintain management reporting frameworks suited to a professional sports environment
• Identify and address weaknesses in financial controls and compliance processes
• Support the business through an active improvement phase with regular on-site engagement

• Proven track record as a CFO or Finance Director in a commercially complex organisation
• Demonstrated experience leading finance transformation, including systems, reporting, and controls improvement
• Ability to work operationally alongside an existing finance team rather than in a purely advisory capacity
• Availability for approximately 2 to 3 days per week with regular on-site presence in South West England
• Experience in professional sport is beneficial but not required
• Background in investor-backed or commercially sophisticated businesses is valued
